Bottomless Love Tub and Drink Tags

So after I blathered on yesterday about Feng Shui, I figured I better create something GREAT to share with you all to redeem myself in your eyes! Well, I did create something GREAT, but you'll have to wait. I am working up a tutorial for it! Don't fret! I have plenty more things to share with you!

I won blog candy from http://inkpaperstamps.stampincorner.com/ that Holly was giving away. She was giving away bottle flags, she called them. They were tags with a stamped mug on them colored to look like beer mugs! They were like wine glass markers, supposed to help you keep your beer identified at the party.  Well, I don't drink (remember I have Multiple Sclerosis, so meds + alcohol = NO NO!), so I asked her to make them coke floats in the mugs, because my daughter makes floats with her friends when she has a sleepover.

And so she did! She also went over board and made the cutest decorated tin! Check them out!

She made one tag larger for the guest of honor. She used (I assume) a blender pen or the aqua painters to color the soda in the mugs.

 

These are the other tags. I just LOVE that mini tag the heart is stuck on. Don't forget to click on a photo to enlarge it.

 

These are all of the tags. She used crystal effects, Dazzling Diamonds, and clear micro beads for the foam on the mugs. On one tag there was a errant black micro bead. She had the Fantabulous idea to make this tag be the "door prize" winner's tag! Since it is different compared to the others!! You could even plan this on your own tags!

 

Here is the tin. My daughter confiscated it and is using it for her "treasures". It is magnetic on the bottom. Melon Mambo ribbon, if you were wondering.

 

Cute Circle Circus center for the flower. Platinum Shimmer paint for the ink. Bling-a-licious in the center!

 

She lined the inside and made this precious Japanese plum blossom punch art attached to the bottom.

 

This is inside the lid. The green scallop circle is the base of the flower on top of the lid. (Great idea! I had not thought of that!)

What a GREAT blog candy!! Holly was so great and asked me exactly what I wanted! She has great ideas too! Drop by sometime and tell her hi!

Ballerina Punch Art

Today I am showing you a cute Ballerina made with Stampin' Up! paper punches. I think punch art is so creative! When I look at the punches, I see the punch shape, ex. a heart shape, as the shape that it is. I don't see cat ears or the body of a ballerina. But some people do! All of my ideas come straight from them!

Most of the time, I get the idea to make a card or other project based on a project someone else did, but I always change it up to suit my tastes and needs. Sometimes, like the Card Holder and the Business Card Holder, I even come up with the pattern myself, just by measuring what I want to go in it. Thinking in 3D has always been easy for me.  BUT punch art… I can only copy. I can't change up and turn it into something else similar. I just can't.

Today though, I am not even showing you my version of the punch art. This is the actual one posted by Huffergirl on Splitcoaststampers.com. If you are a crafter of any kind and you have never gone to this site, you are completely missing out. It has hundreds of thousands of ideas. It is probably the largest "community" of crafters there is. It has forums, galleries, and tutorials for tons of techniques, etc. No matter what you are IN to, i.e. scrapbooking, mini albums, Stampin' Up!, other companies, etc. there are ideas for you! Besides, it is free.

PPA 29 Things I love… Card

I made this card using the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. This was the first time I have ever used a sketch to create a card. I even changed it a little bit! Of course, the only part that changed was the scallop trim punched border, which I put along the bottom of that lower block.

I used all SU! supplies to make this card; however, the patterned paper is retired from the 2009 Holiday Mini Catalog. Sorry about that.

Out of the Ordinary BIG SHOT Projects!

Today's post is part of a thread I started on Stampin' Up!'s new forum for Demonstrator's Only called Stampin' Connection! I asked ladies to talk about ways they use SU! products in unique and unusual ways, and I titled it: Out of the Oridnary Projects. We all know about boxes, cards, and scrapbooking, but what else is there?

I have shown you jewelry, tiles, and earrings this week. Other people have gone as far as making necklaces and bracelets too! I will be working on some of these projects in the future too! There are people who alter candles, tins, and other containers.

One thing I wanted to find out was more ways to use the existing Big Shot dies! We should all get our money's worth from our dies.

People have used the Top Note die to make boxes, purses, bags, cards, toppers for bags, and even faces of critters such as reindeer, snowmen, and Santa. But what about a Photo Wallet? The first photo shows a red photo wallet made from the Top Note die. This project is on my TO DO board! Photo courtesy of Amanda C.

The next two photos are of a great use for the Fancy Favor Die! The Fancy Favor die creates a small gift bag perfect for a small gift. In this instance, Sherry H. connected several of them together to create a desk organizer! How terrific is that?! Great idea, Sherry!! I have the Fancy Favor die and will be making one of these very soon. If you would like one, but you do not have the die, please contact me about ordering a Creative Kit complete with everything you need to make your own. You can even pick the colors of cardstock and the embellishments used!

The next two photos are using the Box #2 die. This idea comes from Amanda C again! She first change the orientation of the box, which usually stands tall and opens from the small side, then she added a second altered Box #2 to the inside as the rest of the "tackle box"! What a great idea! This is a project I will definitely revisit for Father's Day and for my hubby's and Daddy's B'days! Can't wait!

Next is a photo that is from Yvonne M. She used the Fancy Favor die and placed two of them together with a larger tab for a handle to make a baby gift carrier! This application can be used MANY ways! Great idea!

Finally, the last photo is one by Janet W. She used the Fancy Favor die, cut it on a slant and filled it with index cards she had stamped by hand! Terrific idea for personalized note cards! Plus she added some Jumbo Paper Clips turned into Bookmarks! These ideas are on the TO DO board too.

So, your Hot Tip for the day is to look at your Big Shot dies, everything you are about to throw away, and all your craft supplies and ask yourself, "What ELSE could I do with this?" Have fun!!

Decor Elements Ideas

Today I was blog hopping trying to find out if you can put decor elements in the dishwasher. Well, I have found that you can not. You can wash them with mild soap and water. The information and photos I am providing you are from Lisa V. Lisa made the plate with the flower and said it works well for serving snacks or other food on! What a great gift this would make! Just remember to make a small tag with washing instructions for the recipient!
I would have never thought to use home decor elements on a bed, but how cute is this?!

Hot Tip! Using adhesive!

How about a gift from me to you? Today's gift is some money saving tips! Check out these Hot Tips about using adhesive! Click on any photo to enlarge it!

Here are some common tips that crafters assume that everyone knows.
(1) When using Stampin' Dimensionals, save the straight pieces on the edges of the sheet. Cut them and use them just as you would a regular Dimensional!
(2) When making a shadow box or shaker box frame where you need the top frame window to sit up from the base paper, use long strips of the edges of the Dimensional sheet. This will create a seal keeping your shaker material inside your box.
(3) You can see most adhesive when you use vellum, so try to hide it behind another element!
(4)Cut Sticky Strip down the middle creating a 1/8" length of stickiness!
(a)This thinner strip is easier to flex, so you can use it to make free form swirls and shapes that you can sprinkle glitter onto!
(b) Sticky strip is important to use when a project is going to be handled a lot, such as on 3D projects, boxes, bags, and cards that move. Use the thinner strip of sticky strip and save money!!
(5) Money saving tip for SNAIL adhesive: It only takes approximately 1" of adhesive on each corner to secure paper to paper.
(6) Michelle-Frost Stevenson reminds us that the easiest way to get the backing off a Dimensional is to press your fingernail into the center. (See photo)
(7) Finally, when applying SNAIL or any adhesive to a small piece of paper, place the small piece of paper on the shiny side of the backing paper from the Dimensionals sheet. It is a perfect place for the "extra" adhesive that doesn't make it onto your piece of paper. Now there will be no adhesive on your table top, and you won't have to use scrap paper!
