Attention crafters: This post is completely about family. Feel free to read and enjoy! 

Warning: this page may be slow to load because of the amount of photos on it. My apologies. My cousin Alex, his wife, and daughter, Elsa, came to visit recently. I promised to share photos and the video I made. I have other nieces and nephews, but no photos of them. Sorry!

This first photo is My grandmother and my girls on Mother's Day. They are standing in front of a windmill and a rose my grandfather planted for my grandmother decades ago. It was absolutely gorgeous this year!

My grandmother, Mema—yep I am from the south and proud of it! She is 84 and the toughest woman you will ever meet. She has beaten kidney cancer (was told she only had 6 months to live over 4 years ago), bladder cancer 6 times, atrial fib (irregular heart rate—they had to "shock" her with the paddles 3 times in essence killing her for a moment each time), and two strokes! She still walks and drives as she did before all of this! She even brags that she still cuts the grass at the age of 84!

Now, here are the photos of Elsa and my family. Please excuse the blurry photos and the red eyes in the photos. For a digital camera and an infant, something had to give in order to get the photos of her in action.

 

The story here is that she was riding horsey on her dad's leg, then she rode on her moms leg. They were both on the couch. Sydney Grace was sitting there too, so Elsa proceeded to move over to Sydney's leg to ride the horsey! She just kept moving down the line to ride the next one!!

  

This is Elsa's sad face. It was new to her this day. If you said do you want to take a nap or anything else she wouldn't like, she would make this frowning face and bow her head. It was spontaneous and HONEST! So cute!

 

Here is a video of her walking. She was so funny! She would walk two steps then stand there and clap for herself as if she had moved a mountain!

Snow Day!!

NOTE: This post will serve as my post for Saturday. If you didn't know, I write all my posts at night, then schedule them to post the following morning. Because of the special circumstances of this post, I am posting live now. Also, this post contains a lot of photos and a video. I apologize if it takes a long time to load for you. The video is of my family playing in the snow. It is raw, has noises, and poor quality at times, just like us!!

Today was a complete SNOW DAY for us!! I did no crafting or craft research today because I was taking pictures and having fun with my girls!! We got around 4.5" of snow, and we all were like kids in a candy store! We've all been up since before 7am, and we are all still hyper at 8:30pm!

7am…snow just started, the girls couldn't wait. They are making a snowman, and then made a snow angel!

WHY?? You see, snow is rare in south Alabama. Really rare. The last snow we had was in 1993, seventeen years ago, and the snow before that was in 1973, a 20 year span. Some of you live in areas, such as New Hampshire, where snow is the norm, and is viewed as a nuisance at times. Here snow is such a big, exciting deal, and we LOVE the mess, the blocked roads, and being out of school!! Whoo-hoo!

The video is a compilation of all video taken during the day. It is chronological, so you can see the progression of the snow. It ends when my oldest daughter falls down the concrete steps. She is fine, but has a bad bruise on her back. In all our hyperactivity of the day, it was bound to happen.

Gift Frame!

Isn't this a cute frame!! It is a $3.00 5x7 frame from Wally World. I inked the background and each word, then I used watercolor paper, stamped the image in Staz-On, colored it very lightly with the SU! watercolor pencils, and finally blended everything with the Blender Pens! I cut the bird and flower out and attached the bird with a dimensional to the front of the frame, bending his wings ever so slightly to give the piece more depth.

The box was made using an old retired stamp set from Stampin' Up! I am sorry to say that I did not make the box. I received it from a SWAP. We were supposed to use current SU! products! Nothing about this box was current, but it was cute and my frame fit perfectly!

This gift was for a very dear friend of mine, who had been diagnosed with terminal Lung Cancer and was given 6 months to live. She loved the plaque, but her favorite Christmas present was from the doctor. He called and told her that the radiation (that he said would only allow her to live for 6 months, hopefully) had basically eliminated all of the tumors! He told her that she didn't have 6 months to live anymore... she had a full lifetime! Praise God!! Prayer does work!

My grandmother was diagnosed with a very aggressive Kidney Cancer almost 6 years ago and was give 6 months to live, "if she was lucky". The surgeon even told her he advised against the chemo and radiation, as there was " no point". Well now it has been almost 6 years and she has survived the kidney cancer, 2 strokes, a bad heart condition, and 4 cases of bladder cancer. Her surgeon now says she is a "walking miracle"!!
