Cards: Invites, B'day, and more!

Well, to continue the week of showing you more of my projects, we will take a look at a few cards I have made recently. First up, you will see a card I made using my Cricut where I cut out a cake with 3 candles and put that on the envelope and cut out a frame with circles and put it on the card. There was a final step, where I cut the letter "P" in a cute Cricut font and put it in the center of the card too. They were so cute!

The next two cards I will show are for my Daddy. Yep, I am a southern girl, so he is my Daddy, not my dad. :) One was for his birthday in June and the other for Father's day. I used DCWV patterned paper. He loves corvettes; doesn't have one, but loves them, especially the older ones. So, I thought the paper with the cars was perfect. Then he is store manager at our local ACE hardware and he uses a notepad for writing orders, item numbers, etc. I didn't expect him to use it, because as masculine as I tried to get it, it still was a bit too decorative for a guy. Anyway, he took it to work and put it on his shelf by the picture of my girls like it was a photo. He was so proud.

The next cards were for my mother for her birthday in May and mother's day. I used my cricut to cut the birds and word (I also put love on the envelope). I noticed on several blogs and design discussions that you are supposed to ground an object to keep it from floating in the air by providing a ground or shadow effect. My squiggly line of grass was cute, but then I had to go over it again, which needed going over again, until it was just too much. I learned my lesson. A squiggle is all it takes! The other card uses some patterned paper I had from Michael's from a couple of years ago. I liked the fact that the numbers were hinting at a birthday card.

Finally, some cards I made from Stampin' Up! stamp sets. My favorite is the argyle card with the lion from the Wild About You stamp set (retired). It was for my hubby on his birthday. I made a Thank You card for my upline using the Elegant Thank You stamp set, the Barouque Border Stampin' Wheel, and a Flourishes clear stamp set from WalMart clearance. It was put on a Melon Mambo card base with a Soft Suede matte. The thank you was stamped in soft suede and the flourish was stamped in Melon Mambo. I love this card! It is so elegant. The colors bump it up a notch and the flower adds a touch of sweetness. (Oops, am I suppose to comment on my own cards?) I ate lots of chocolate before doing that card... the creativity shows.

The following cards used the Pun Fun stamp set, which I used watercolor pencils and a Blender Pen to color them in. You may not be able to tell, but the blender pens were dry. I didn't know at the time and kept streaking it across the paper. I can say one thing for sure, Stampin' Up!'s customer support is outstanding! They sent a new set as soon as I called to ask if they thought they were dry. They even suggested I try a "homemade refill" and see if I could get use out of them. Wow. For the So Stinkin Sweet card I used Melon Mambo and Basic Black. Awesome combination! The Get Whale Soon card was Soft Suede with Bermuda Bay torn for a water effect and to color th whale. I puched three white dots and coloredthem with Bermuda Bay too. Love that card too.
Tune in tomorrow...like sands through the hour glass, so are the Crafts of Our Lives. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I believe in the CASE philosophy...COPY AND SHARE EVERYTHING. Honestly, although my work is original, it starts by me seeing something someone else has done and changing it! Scraplift all you want...I did!
